Née à New York, elle se situe dans la lignée des Nat King Cole et Sinatra. Très suave dans son chant, porté par un phrasé impeccable,
couronnée de prix (BBC Jazz Award en 2007, "Best vocalist"), Stacey Kent a beaucoup d'allure et d'élégance. Elle est accompagnée notamment par son mari, le saxophoniste Jim Tomlinson.
Son répertoire revisite les classiques américains. Elle chante trois titres en français dans son dernier album "Breakfast on the morning tram".
